In 2021 I discovered one of the only remaining healthy Eastern Hemlock trees in the Trillium Forest, which the Fae refer to as the Great Hemlock. Often known as the "Redwoods of the East," these forest giants are currently under threat of extinction by an invasive insect called the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid. The Great Hemlock of the Trillium Forest towers at an amazing 175 feet tall and because it is a keystone species, many other plants, animals, and of course magical creatures live around it and thrive.
